Garden Kick-off will be April 24, 2008

Eligibility: Grades 3-12. Youth in K-2nd grades may participate, but not compete.
Team or Individual: Individual, families or clubs.
Description: Contestants prepare, plant, and maintain their own gardens at their homes. Volunteer judges visit their garden during the summer to evaluate the garden and give helpful suggestions. The children keep a garden journal throughout the summer to track the maintenance and yield from their garden. In the fall, their garden journal is turned into the 4-H Office. Contestants are evaluated on the care and maintenance of their garden, yields from their garden, and their garden journals.
Awards: Youth in K-2nd grade receive a participation ribbon. All other youth receive a certificate and earn a blue, red or white ribbons based on the Danish judging system:
· Blue (excellent): 90-100
· Red (good ): 75-89
· White (fair): 74 and below
