4-H Horse Public Speaking
Dates:
- Cloverbud & Junior Divisions (Grades K-5): March 13, 2008
- Intermediate & Senior Divisions (Grades 6-12): March 13, 2008
Eligibility: Youth in K-12 grades. Cloverbud youth (K-2) grades may participate, but may not compete.
Team or Individual: Individual only.
Registration Deadline:
Cloverbud & Junior Divisions (Grades K-5): March 8, 2008
Intermediate & Senior Divisions (Grades 6-12): March 8, 2008
Description: Youth write and deliver an original speech related to the horse industry.
Next Steps:
- County contestants in3-8 grades are invited to compete during Northern Regional Contests in June 2008.
- Selected contestants in grades 9-12 will be invited to represent Salt Lake County in State 4-H Horse Public Speaking competition.
Awards: Each youth receives a certificate and earns a blue, red or white ribbons based on the Danish judging system:
· Blue (excellent): 90-100
· Red (good ): 75-89
· White (fair): 74 and below
The 1st place Senior Division winner will receive a partial scholarship to compete in State 4-H Contests in July.
