4-H Quick Meals Contest

 

Dates:

  • January 24, 2008 - Senior Division (Grades 9-12); Must register and submit recipe and nutritional analysis by January 17 (4 p.m).
  • January 24, 2008 - Intermediate Division (Grades 6-8); Must register and submit recipe and nutritional analysis by January 17 (4 p.m).
  • January 31, 2008 - Junior Division (Grades 3-5); Must register and submit recipe and nutritional analysis by January 25 (4 p.m).

Eligibility: Grades 3-12.

Individual or Team: Individual or a team of two.

Description:    Youth plan and prepare a nutritionally balanced, affordable meal for two judges.  Youth must prepare the meal and clean up within a one-hour time period. 

Next Steps:

  • Selected delegates in grades 9-12 will be invited to represent Salt Lake County in State Quick Meals Competition.

Awards:  Youth receive a certificate and earn a blue, red or white ribbon based on the Danish judging system:

·          Blue (excellent): 90-100

·          Red (good ): 75-89

·          White (fair): 74 and below

The 1st place Senior Division winner will receive a partial scholarship to compete in State 4-H Contests in July.
